Sometimes words are just not enough to express the pain and sorrow we feel deeply in our body and soul. I have had the good fortune to get it right from time to time and picked the right ‘prescription’ for the right grieving client.
Working with a client recently I had the intuitive sense that words were just not doing it for her. She had deep pain and sorrow as a result of her daughter’s sudden and tragic death. She had expressed herself to me with words and some emotion yet something seemed to be missing; she wasn’t fully getting how it really was for her across to me.
I suggested she paint her pain-full self-portrait.
She did.
Now I can see her pain and I really get her in the pain-full experience of the nasty loss of her beloved daughter and so can you.
It is so important to understand that each person has their way of expressing their grief and it is not always with words and emotions. Find the ‘right’ way and out comes the grief almost effortlessly.
It is with my client’s blessing that I share her pain with you through her painting she has entitled ‘Pain Has No Color”.
Warmly and with gratitude
Stephen
